Crowns/Onlays
Crown is a fixed prosthetic device that is used to cover a tooth like a “cap”. Unlike a denture, which can be removed and cleaned every day, a crown is permanently cemented onto the tooth and so cannot be removed. Crowns not only protect the damaged tooth from being infected again but also restore the functioning of the tooth and allow a patient to chew with it again.
Crowns are most commonly done after root canal treatments where the surface enamel of the infected tooth cuts away. In order to keep the infected tooth protected, we install crowns on top of them. Oregon Family Dentist is particularly skilled in crown dentistry. We thoroughly clean out the damaged tooth and crown it in a reliable way so that it may be used without worry.
